The weather on the day started rather dull but there was certainly nothing dull about the first event of the day…the 100m toddler dash for children aged under 5 (could the next Usain Bolt be amongst the field). The 400m dash for primary1-4 followed which also proved to be very exciting with some great efforts, this was followed by the rather competitive 1k fun run which, proved to be more than competitive than fun! All participants received a medal, fruit and water on finishing.

As the sun began to shine the main race the Half Marathon got under way at 10.30am along with the 5k road race which started at Lochview Family Golf Centre.

For the first time in over a decade there was a new male finishing in first place Stuart Gibson from Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers with a time of 01.11.27 with Laura Wallace from Ayr Seaforth AAC taking the first female title in a time of 01.02.32.
