Voluntary Sector Locality Network Events

Posted: Monday 23 January 2012

During February-March 2012, Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire is hosting its latest round of six Voluntary Sector Locality Network Events across North Lanarkshire for volunteers and voluntary sector organisations to come together to share key information.

If you are a volunteer or paid staff member in a local voluntary organisation (or work for any other organisation with an interest in communities), and feel you would benefit from coming together with other volunteers and organisations to discuss key issues affecting voluntary action in your town and gain updates on key policy / strategic information affecting voluntary sector groups and volunteers, attending a Voluntary Sector Locality Network could be beneficial for you. Network meetings in February-March 2012 will include the following sessions / agenda items:

  • An introdution to Saltire Awards, a new national recognition programme for young people aged 12-25 that give time to volunteering (replacing the MV Awards from 1 April 2012)
  • Spotlight on the Volunteer Friendly Award, a new nationally-recognised quality standard that can be achieved by local volunteer-involving organisations to demonstrate commitment to volunteering
  • An update on latest local developments in relation to the Change Plan, a Scottish Government investment to reform services for older people in the future
  • Key information updates for volunteers and voluntary sector organisations
  • Opportunity for Organisations to book slots to present or raise awareness about their services / campaigns (please contact Craig Russell at contact details below to book slots on agendas)
  • Any specific issues affecting voluntary sector and community involvement in particular localities
  • Surgery at which volunteers can book in to have Disclosure Scotland checks carried out (after each of the meetings) and latest update on the PVG Scheme.

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire would like to invite you or representative(s) of your organisation to come along to your nearest Voluntary Sector Locality Network meeting. Dates have been scheduled for the next meeting of each Network.
